The Riverwalk: A Day in the Beautiful City of Tampa

Are you looking for something to do in the Tampa area? There is a virtually limitless supply of options for fun activities here in the city. I've been asked several times about my favorite thing to do in the city. I have an answer for that question and I've documented it here as a live blog of me and my pup, Simba, hanging out downtown.

5:47 pm: Simba and I arrive in the parking garage next to Curtis Hixon Dog Park. Heading down the stairs to the street.

5:52 pm: Simba nearly jumps out of his own skin at the sound of a car driving fast as hell over the train tracks.

5:59 pm: We arrive at the dog park. Simba absolutely explodes across the astro turf to play with the other dogs.

6:17 pm: As I'm talking to a fellow dog owner, Simba begins marking his territory on literally every object in the entire park, much to the chagrin of the other dogs. Win for Simba.

6:32 pm: Simba goes into his customary holding pattern right before he...yup. Grabbing a doggy bag. It's his world and I'm just living in it.

7:01 pm: Time to get out of here. Simba comes when he's called since he's a good boy. Leash on. Let's get out of here.

7:05 pm: Down the Riverwalk we go. Damn I love this city. I say good evening to the passersby. Simba sniffs their butts. To each their own, I guess.

7:35 pm: We arrive at The Sail. A few of my friends meet me there for a few brews down by the river. Simba starts lapping up water from a dog bowl provided by the employees while we clink glasses.

9:00 pm: Simba is yawning and making awkward eye contact. His way of saying, "Dad, you degenerate. Take me home for crying out loud." Fine, Simba.

9:05 pm: Said goodbye to the boys. Time to walk back down the Riverwalk to the car.

9:20 pm: Damn, this city is pretty at night. That is all.

9:35 pm: We're in the car. Simba is already passing out in the backseat. What a nerd. Let's go home, dude.
