Dog Culture in Tampa: Top 3 Dog Destinations
If there is anything that millennials are truly obsessed with, it is our dogs. While previous generations may have thought of their dogs purely as animals who just happened to be friends of the family, our generation almost thinks of our dogs as our own children. Evidence of this is everywhere as people around the Tampa area seem to be looking for more places where they can bring their dogs with them, whether it be to new dog parks or dog-friendly restaurants. As the owner of a three year old Vizsla, I can certainly say that I'm constantly doing the same exact thing. So are you trying to find that next pupper hangout spot in the Tampa area? Well, here are a few of my favorite spots to get you started.

1. Curtis Hixon Dog Park
For all of you city dwellers out there, this one is for you. Living with a dog downtown can be tough. Not having a backyard that your pup can easily run around in and do their business means lots of walks and trips to the park. Luckily for you, there's a perfect spot conveniently located right on the river. Curtis Hixon Dog Park boasts an astro turf lawn covered with several concrete obstacles and platforms for your pup to run around and climb on. There is even a doggy water fountain so your fur baby will never go without a refreshment. I've brought my pup here many times. I always show up with an energetic little monster and I leave with a tired doggo ready for a nap. After your dogs have run their little hearts out and need a break, you can waltz on down The Riverwalk to our next destination.
2. The Sail
If you're a sucker for outdoor bars like me, then you'll absolutely love The Sail, located near the Tampa Convention Center on the north end of The Riverwalk. Newly renovated and located right on the water for a killer view, this is a bar perfect for an evening spent with your pup and a few friends. And what's more, this is the perfect time of year for The Sail. As the weather begins to cool off in the city, it couldn't be a better time to take Fido out for a beer. So come on out, grab yourself a cold one, pour some water for your furry friend, and kick back for an evening of relaxation.

3. Davis Island Dog Beach
When I used to live in South Tampa, this spot was one of my absolute favorites. Nothing quite tires out a doggo quite like an afternoon running around on the beach with other furry friends. One of the things I like the most about this dog beach is that the patrons are very good about cleaning up after their pups. No chance of stepping in any messes here. If your dog loves to swim and run around like an absolute maniac then be sure to check out Davis Island Dog Beach!
